All applications will receive an answer in maximum 10 days after submission, if your participation is confirmed you will receive an email from our part with the further details, terms and conditions.
You can now apply any time via the application form at the bottom of this page.
Our Creative Residencies welcome not only artists, but all types of makers and creative minds that wish to have an inspiring experience and develop their practices. To dive into a specific project or just use the structure we propose for their works. The objective is not specific and can be flexible adapting to the needs and insights of the participants, including projects with various scales, large or reduced sizes according to the limitations of the spaces we share.
Accommodation is provided in single rooms with a private bathroom for Individual format. As we offer the possibility of Collective Residencies for groups which need a physical space with the structure to put their ideas in practice, we also propose other options of accommodation in this case including shared bedrooms and lodging outside of the property like B&B or hotels nearby if needed. The residents have included to the price breakfast with access to the kitchen facilities for preparing all other meals.
The creative program can be completed by the usual set of activities organised in such as sight seen in the surroundings, movies and documentaries, reading sessions and discussions, etc. depending on the flow and intention of the residency.

In the ceramics section of the workshop, we will work on the electric wheel to create a tea set perfect for brewing and enjoying green tea. This set consists of a Kyuusu teapot, a Yuzamashi pourer and matching teacups. We will learn the essential features of each piece and how they are traditionally thrown on the wheel. All along the throwing and trimming processes, we will talk about the history of tea, where these elements come from and how they are used in daily life.

In the woodworking half of this workshop we will create a serving tray in the style of a Wagatabon and a teaspoon (or many). I will teach the basics of green woodworking - a beginner friendly and intuitive craft, which connects people with the materials around them and gives them an easy understanding of woodworking basics to build on. We will start by talking about greenwood, how it moves and behaves and how to work with it and will split the wood together to make blanks. We then learn how to make a Wagatabon Tea Tray using Japanese Chisels and planes. This needs no prior knowledge of woodworking and is very accessible
The Place
CO-CREATION : COMMUNITY : CONNECTION
Aside a small river called The Seasons, between the Pyrenean mountains and the Atlantic ocean in the South West of France, Casa Satio integrates a countryside home and its barn from the 17th century into an open space for creativity.
With the intention to approach existence as a collective organism and all learning processes as an alive system, to stimulate dialogues between multiple practices.
A place where creative minds and makers can exchange knowledge, transmit intuitive and technical skills, different points of views and all types of experiences.
Transforming realities through Art and Crafts. From ideas to shapes, bringing thoughts to life.
