Local Minerals Instructions
About clay and the essential wisdom of minerals, on the surface of the earth and within us.
To immerse yourself in the world of throwing and travel through the layers of the territory together.
Everything is in motion.
Matter propulse energy in an increasing moving dynamic.
In this pace the full power of potential seems to be in constant acceleration. But there is always a moment before the next move, a breath before the next step.
A pause before the finished object becomes, taking part into the visible world.
Our workshop lies on the need of this airy interlude, to densify the moment of creation and refine perception. A necessary space of recognition, a gap that liberates from the rush of making and allow us to finally feel.
Structure
The workshop consists on two steps distributed in four days.
The first phase enrols throughout three days and will be dedicate on learning how to perform the first gestures in large pieces. Exercising a more precise look and a more refined touch, considering building at least two pieces turned in large format. The second part will take place in one full day of practice and will be focused on the harvest of natural materials accompanied by technical explanation and intuition.
In this dynamic Emeric will lead a dialogue between history and transmission as an innate motivation embodied by his practice.
More than introducing a new technique, this experience is an invitation to discovery a new approach and universe of action to allow the development of your own identity and enrich your capacities as a potter.
An open space to exchange knowledge and stimulate transmission with passion and kindness.
At the end of the program, participants will have the opportunity to bring home the final objects that will be fired at the workshop by the following days. All materials and tools are provided and included in the final price.
This course is accessible to anyone initiated into a ceramic practice, with experience in turning at least 2kg of clay.
The level of the tasks will be adjusted according to the abilities of each person.
**Special Price first registered - Until the end of July 2026.

The practice
Throw the earth.
The potter’s wheel is an ancestral tool, used since Mesopotamia. From a creative instrument to meditative object of practice, the throwing movements brings us back to a circular universal motion. Joining the elementary aspect of matter itself it reminds us of our own condition as circular asters and planetary beings.
"Throw" means to turn in English and it’s the name we’ve chosen to define this workshop. Taking place in 4 days, the lessons will be about the technique of turning big formats of ceramic vases, experiencing the local landscapes and gather natural materials from the surroundings of Casa Satio, to integrate into the pieces produced during the workshop.
This is a unique opportunity to share experiences, develop your ceramic practices, expand your shapes to wider formats and learn assembly techniques, combining turned elements built in different parts.
*Minimum level required: Intermediate (earth centring and lifting experience on min. 2kg of clay)
Who?
E M E R I C B O D E
"To make large pieces, the practice of turning remains essential and methodical, unlike the use of harvested minerals which requires a more instinctive operation. Always on the edge between these two horizons, I never lose my mind that any result offers an additional knowledge of matter, this approach inevitably brings me back to my place in the face of nature.”
Renowned for his mastery of large-scale thrown pieces and his innovative approach to ancestral techniques, Emeric's work embodies with devotion the art of pottery and an incessant desire to push its creative limits, combining technical precision to artistic expression. With a deep commitment to sharing and transmission.
Formed by the International Center for Arts and Ceramics (Cnifop) in Burgundy and by the master potter Gilbert Serres, his great source of knowledge and inspiration. After leaving his role as a teacher in the Preparatory Class to Professional’s Turning Certificate (CAP) at Faktoria in Biarritz, Emeric moved to the mountains in the country of Andorra to build his own Anagama kiln and settle for a total immersion in his own creative process surrounded by the elements and landscapes of the region.
Passionate about geology, with an eye focussed on minerals and field formations. Emeric draws from the older generation of master potters the techniques and traditional knowledge of the profession. Always in search of knowledge and a sense of openness, he integrates the two worlds and engages an exploration of elements having nature as a guide - harvesting his own materials, getting closer to natural resources and listening to the essence of rocks, letting himself be carried away by these beings.
A constant dialogue, driven by respect for the living and the wisdom embodied by the time of matter.
"Shading the clay or being shaped by it. This is the relationship we have with this matter that has come from the depths of time to our hands. Wisdom, humility, demands, beauty and so many other qualities travelling in her. We face it, trying in vain to detect the snippes of his story to unconsciously let ourselves be transformed, to be inspired by all these virtues. All this effort and all this energy spent to realise that in the end we do not master clay, but indisputably we are educated by it. It is with great gratitude that I advance to these sides, turning endlessly, accepting the transformation, in silence, patiently, very patiently..."

The place
CO-CREATION : COMMUNITY : CONNECTION
On the banks of a small river called Le Saison, between the Pyrenean mountains and the Atlantic Ocean in southwestern France, Casa Satio integrates a country house and its 17th-century barn in a space open to creativity.
Our intention is to approach existence as a collective organism and all learning processes as a living system, in order to stimulate dialogues between multiple practises. A place where ideas take shape and thought lives. Where creative and creative minds are invited to exchange knowledge, transmit skills, intuitive and technical, different points of view and all kinds of experiences.
By transforming realities by action and presence, doing and being. Promote culture, stimulate sharing, build links, make it possible.
